Professional Licensure Information

Young Harris cannot guarantee that the program will lead to licensure in other states because each U.S. state or territory defines its own requirements for licensing and/or certification, and those requirements can change at any time. Students who wish to become certified to teach in another state should review the table below to see if the YHC program meets certification requirements in the state in which you intend to seek licensure and should contact the state’s licensing board to discuss specific licensure questions. Contacts for each state’s licensing board can be found on the NC SARA Teacher Education Directory.

The state of Georgia is a member of NASDTEC Interstate Agreement for teacher licensure. In order to qualify for this reciprocity, teacher candidates must first obtain Georgia certification. States may issue a certificate based upon recipricity for a professiona certificate from the GaPSC. Contact the Board of Education in the state you wish to teach for additional requirements. For assistance with this process please make an appointment with the Certification Officer in the Department of Education. More information can be also be found at the NASCTEC information page for out-of-state applicants.
